Updated features of Codex Records

Codex Records have tons of new features and increased utility since we last wrote about them. Here is a look at what’s recently been added.

 

Our last posts on Codex Records were in October of 2018 (here and here). A lot has changed and improved since then.The design, functionality and features of Codex Records have increased, and we are going to break down the current and upcoming features of Codex Records so you can get the most out of using Codex. 

Codex Records are one of the easiest and most secure ways to register an asset onto the blockchain. These NFTs can be used to store provenance information of a valuable collectible, or they can be bought and traded as a digital asset themselves. In order to make the Records as flexible and secure as we could, we’ve added a handful of features to fit every user’s need. The following sections are a look at the features of Codex Records.

Create / Edit Dialog Overhaul

This week we released the create and edit dialog overhaul. It’s one of the biggest updates to Codex Records to date and we’re excited to share the details with the public. 

The newly updated create dialog now has “additional images” and “additional files”. The only consistent trait among all provenance documentation is that they are all inconsistent. Documentation can include pictures of receipts, certificates of authenticity, PDF files of appraisal reports and more. Users can now upload multiple images and files to their Codex Records to populate them with all existing information they have on their asset. 

File Privacy

Users can also change the privacy of files within Codex Records. Some users may want to publicize a Codex Record but have some files that they want to remain private, so we gave users the power to control individual components that others can view. –

UI updates

It’s been a priority of ours to always build Codex products to be as user friendly as possible. We want to get rid of the stereotype that all blockchain products are confusing, so we have added some UI improvements in the editing of Codex Records; i.e. hover over a file and click to delete it and upload multiple images to your Record at once. It is a continued dedication to a clean and simple UI that distinguishes the Codex Viewer from many blockchain projects. 

Privacy 

Easily see who can view your Codex Records. Privacy icons are now “eyes” instead of “locks” and show you whether others can view your Codex Record or whether it’s private and viewable to your eyes only. 

 

The private Record “state” has also been updated. Whether someone gets a link to a private Record or it’s viewed on OpenSea (the Codex Registry is indexed by OpenSea, all Codex Records created on the platform automatically populate and get updated on OpenSea) private Records will appear as shown in the image below. 

Full screen images

Viewing full screen images on Codex Records has been a highly requested feature from many digital artists on our platforms, particularly those with public galleries (apple for one here). Now, users can click on any image in the Codex Record and it will show full screen. With the ability to upload multiple photos to one Codex Record, users can also scroll through all images in the Record while in full screen.

Movie Files

With the increased usage of Codex Records as digital artworks, the demand for video files have also increased. Users can upload video files to their Codex Records in the “files” section. We know that many users would like the video as the primary visual for the Record, so we have added this option in the meantime while we work to incorporate that feature!
